Language Assistance Program

The Ameritas language assistance program is designed to help Limited English Proficient (LEP) or non-English speaking members with language translation services. It includes, but is not limited to, accessing an interpreter.

Assist patients in requesting interpreter services:

  1. Verify that your patient’s insurance is through Ameritas or Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. of New York.
  2. Provide the informational handout to your patient, which provides details about requesting services in many languages. All states except California: Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Tagalog, Russian, Arabic, French Creole, French, Polish, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, German, and Persian.California only: Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, Hindi, Hmong, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese.
  3. You or your patient can call to request interpreter services. A qualified interpreter will be provided at no cost to you or your patient. Providers and members are encouraged to access this toll-free number rather than relying on the patient’s family members or friends as interpreters.

California Language Assistance Program

We’re required to provide interpreter services to Limited English Proficient (LEP) or non-English speaking members and gather survey information about plan members in California, including language spoken and race/ethnicity. As part of our dental network agreement, network providers must provide information about language translation services to patients when necessary.

Survey Results

In our most recent survey, the top results for language spoken were:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • Chinese
  • Vietnamese
  • Korean

Any language selection that received less than 50 responses is not listed.

In our most recent survey, the top results for race/ethnicity were:

  • White
  • Hispanic or Latino
  • Asian American
  • 2 or more races
  • Black
  • Native American/Alaska Native
  • Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander
