Ameritas Group Improves Online Dental Explanation of Benefits
Lincoln, Neb.//October 5, 2012//Ameritas Group, a division of Ameritas Life Insurance Corp., recently introduced an improved and more detailed version of its online dental Explanation of Benefits (EOB), called “How Your Claim Was Calculated.”
For claims submitted after August 23, 2012, the new online EOB provides claim details at the dental procedure level, showing how the deductible and coinsurance are applied, and calculates the math along the way, making claim processing easier for the member to understand. Any additional details or remarks specific to a procedure are also shown.
During development of the new online EOB, Ameritas worked with internal and external experts to review current claims information and to find areas for improvement, including applying behavioral science to enhance the way claims processing details are provided. Focus groups with policyholders and network dentists were held to gather feedback on how to help members better understand their dental benefits and claims information.
The improved online EOB follows our recent introduction of a “Remaining Benefits” link that provides plan specific benefit details, such as coinsurance, deductible and maximum, and up-to-date information on remaining benefits. And an “Action Taken on this Claim” section provides a quick, high level snapshot of how a dental claim was processed, including what the dentist charged and what the member owes on the claim, if anything.
